Russia Reports Gold Production Nearing 500 Tons Despite Ongoing Conflict
Russia's gold production may have surged to as high as 485 metric tons in 2025, with projections suggesting it could reach 500 tons this year, according to data revealed by Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov.
In an interview with the TASS news agency ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Minister Kozlov noted that the final production figures for 2025 were still being finalized. However, expert assessments currently estimate gold production to be between 480 and 485 tons for that year. Looking ahead to 2026, Kozlov indicated that output could increase further, potentially reaching between 480 and 500 tons.
These figures mark a significant rise from previously available public estimates and would solidify Russia’s standing as one of the world’s leading gold producers. Such a development could have important implications for the global gold market, especially amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and shifting trade dynamics.
